IF HE HAD AN OWNER THEY WOULD BE PROSECUTING AND,
WASTING DONORS MONEY, BUT THEY CANT EVEN BE BOTHERED TO TURN UP !
ANIMAL lovers are hoping the RSPCA will take care of this injured stray cat.
Smudgy the cat, who wanders the area of Brynithel near St Illtyd’s Church, is looked after by a community of animal lovers who are becoming concerned about his welfare.
Three months ago the residents noticed Smudgy had got tangled in some metal wire that was cutting into his flesh.
The residents contacted the RSPCA and are still waiting for something to be done.
“When we noticed his injury we phoned the RSPCA straight away but they have done nothing to help him, it is horrible to see him in pain and we really wanted to do something for him.
“I have phoned several times and we think it is disgusting that the RSPCA is ignoring this case, if we could catch Smudgy we would take him to the vets.
As the weeks have gone on the residents fear Smudgy’s injury has got worse and the only option may be to put him down.
“If the RSPCA had come when we first phoned I think looking after Smudgy would have been quite easy,” Miss Combstock added.
“However, the longer it has gone on the worse it has got, he walked near me the other day and I could smell his flesh rotten.
“I would hate to see him put down but I can’t stand the thought of him dying slowly either. If the metal wire gets caught he could starve to death.
“I am really disappointed with the RSPCA because if Smudgy was my cat they would prosecute me for letting him live in this way but it is okay for them to leave him like this when they have known about it for months.”
At the time of going to press, the RSPCA were only available to issue the following comment: “We take this matter very seriously and we are looking into it.”

hypocrites, no film crew no rspca, this is how they waste money and dont spend donations on animal welfare, they would throw £10K'S at a prosecution if smudgy had an owner, and then reel in the donations from the publicity. TIME FOR A REAL ANIMAL WELFARE CHARITY IN THE UK !
This is discgracefull, the rspca are fast enough to knock on my door asking fort dsnations, or on the TV's animal police, why havent they done anything for this poor cat ?????????????
poor cat
seems pretty common according to this site, what else do the rspca do all day ?

i as the adopted owner so to speak of smudgy the cat in this article (miss Combstock) I thought i would update this blog site to let you concerned know the progress of hi. He was helped when I went to the papers by a local Cat rescue, without this persons help he woudl have surely died! Valley Cats rescue saved his life, paid for all his op and care, and are angels in my eyes as are the vets bridge street vets brynmawr who did his op.
I had a phone call many many weeks later from the chief inspector for sout wales after continoius posting on their facebook group page trying to get some answers! She stated that she was sorry I felt let down by them! I said they had let smudgy down and was disgusted by their lack of action, she refused any help with vet bills or to give me a case number and only said, they was investigating as to why he was let down! and the person who was at fault would be sacked!
I have heard nothing since, and told them lack of action still and just investigating what when wrong, not still offering any help to poor smudgy was hypocrytical of their policies and that they disgust me further by knowing about the issue yet still not acting on it!
As i said he has been helped and within one day of the paper going to press! not months like RSPCA who still didnt help at all! I have pasted a few links to pics above from VCR group on facebook, please note one is of him recovered and well in my mums garden and the other one leads onto a series of pics of extent of smudgy's injuries so please do not look if you are easily upset by such an injury as it is very bad!
Many thanx and if you would like to join VCR to support them in any way please do join this group until their website is up and running, they unlike RSPCA deserve all the support they can get!
